Olof Christofferson was a farmer and archaeologist that lived in our village in the beginning of the last century. He was a notorious collector; his whole life he gathered objects and stories from the past, about local geography, history and folklore. He was known as a peculiar character in the area, he found lots of artifacts from the Stone Age when he ploughed his land and when he heard of a finding somewhere he hurried of in his car to get them. On his farm there were many unusual plants, like Ginko (75 years old), Manchurian Walnut and mutations of plants with parti-coloured leaves like boxboom, nettle and maple. Some of these mutations have later been improved by breeding and are now grown in Plant schools.

This two-coloured Boxwood was taken care of when Olof Christofferson died and later planted as a hedge around his grave. When his farm was sold a couple of years after his death they moved his herb garden to the Museum of Trelleborg and the Boxwood was planted around that as well. A retired worker from the local government gave us some plants from that hedge but the plant we gave to Vintage Plant descends from the one around his grave.
